Hammermill & St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

International Paper has kicked off their partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each package of Hammermill paper will feature artwork from a patient at St. Jude and they have pledged to donate a portion of their sales to the hospital. St. Jude is an amazing facility that treats children from all across the United States with catastrophic diseases without charge. They operate on donations primarily, similar to the one International Paper has pledged to give. Some quick facts about St. Jude:

1.On average, 7,800 active patients visit the hospital each year, most of whom are treated on an outpatient basis.

2. No family ever pays St. Jude for anything.

3. The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $1.8 million, which is primarily covered by public contributions.

4. St. Jude was the first institution to develop a cure for sickle cell disease with a bone marrow transplant and has one of the largest pediatric sickle cell programs in the country.
